Stage & Performance
There’s a moment just before the lights come up – when everything is still and charged. That’s the space I try to inhabit when photographing performance. Not to capture every movement, but to find the feeling beneath it.
These images are about energy, vulnerability, timing – and what it means to step into the light.
Stage-photography is exactly as exciting, nerve-wrecking, hilarious, wonderful, scary and beautiful, as what the performer feels when he or she enters the stage. You are totally at the mercy of this flow, and you can never be sure of the outcome.
